Our Dogs
Omega's Sergeant Stepin' Proud Sarge came to us in the spring of 2010, an uncontrollable ball of energy. It has taken an awful lot of work to make him the wonderful fella he is today. The second day we had him here we brought him into the kitchen to show some friends and he jumped onto the kitchen table to help himself to the cookies; a year later he is trusted playing with his best friend, a kitten named Rascal!Although Frank has a history of showing and breeding CKC registered dogs, this is something Leigh has never been able to do until Sarge. He is from Omega kennels in Montana, with duel World Seiger Champion bloodlines. As you can see he is drop dead gorgeous, super smart and a lot of fun! _________________________________________________________________________________________ Gee-Gee She is our princess, our Diva, our golden girl!!! Gee-Gee is slang for a small horse; and when we named her we never thought in a million years we would be getting a real Gee-Gee! Gee-Gee's mother, a great Pyrenees, and three puppies were found around Lumsden. We were fortunate to adopt Gee-Gee on Father's day, 2005. When we brought her home she was terrified, and just wanted to sit in a far corner of the yard shaking. It took a lot of patience to get her where she is today, a very friendly girl who seems to get along with everyone (people and dogs) she meets. She has been to several obedience and agility classes, as well as touching a bit on "free style dance". I am super excited to start Rally-O classes June 2011, I'm sure she will be the star.
_________________________________________________________________________________________ Bailey
Bailey will always be our baby, no matter how big she gets - and she is getting big! Over 100 lbs now. After we had Gee-Gee for a while, we thought it would be fun to have a second dog, as much to keep her entertained while we were gone and get her out of her shell as for us. We joke that Bailey was Gee-Gee's Christmas present. We answered an ad in the paper "Great Pyr X puppies for sale", and were presently surprised to see that two of the puppies were Landseer Newfie pups. Apparently a breeder of Landseer's lived down the road, and their boy often came to visit the Great Pyr Mom; Taa-Daa - Bailey! She has nearly perfect Landseer markings. Can you believe there is a whole breed of dogs that look like our big dope?!?!? The Landseer originated by crossing the Newfie and Pry; so she actually has characteristics more like the original 1930's dog, which is what the European Landseer is now like, instead of the American Landseer of today. Bailey has the most laid back personality you have ever seen; all the jokes about Newfies just slowly sauntering across the room are right on the money. Nobody can dislike Bailey! She really is our sweetheart.
_________________________________________________________________________________________ Hummingbird Hollow's Crimson Dancer Hummingbird Hollow's Crimson Dancer is our pride and joy! We bought her from a kennel in the southern states and it was quite an ordeal to get her here - we ended up having to go to Edmonton to pick her up. Oh well, good excuse for a road trip! I can't believe what a fast learner she is, I think we are going to have an exciting future together and I can't wait for our first dog show! Wish us luck! _________________________________________________________________________________________ Maia Our chosen child! We bred Bailey in the spring of 2011 and she had four pups born Easter Monday. Maia is the little girl we picked to keep and no regrets with that decision. She is so calm and laid back yet listens very well. A great addition to our family! _________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________ RIP Rusty We lost Rusty June 2011 after watching him "go downhill" for the last couple of months. Sure miss my little buddy. It's always hard to loose a dear friend and we considered every day we have him with us a blessing as we watched him slip away. We first met Rusty in June 2007 when we were at the humane society looking for our missing Splat Cat. We sure hadn't planned on a third dog, but he sure captured my heart the way he followed me from one door in the "cell" he was in to the other and wanting a nose rub. Frank convinced me that a sheltie would be more practical if I wanted to pursue my hobby of dog agility. (He didn't have a hard sell!) But once we had him a while it became obvious he was already an old fella. So we joked that Rusty was the substitute cat, and he didn't seem to mind. I think he will take any abuse if there is a hug at the end of it. His history baffles us, as he is a purebred, and has been very well trained in obedience, yet found as a stray and never claimed. I am not sure that we are the best home he could have had as he often seems to get lost in the crowd of big dogs, but we are his home non the less, and he is part of the gang now.
